Corruption: Buhari orders investigations of Badeh, Umar, Amosu, other military officers



PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Eco­nomic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to in­vestigate 17 retired and serv­ing military officers of the Ni­gerian Air Force and Nigerian Army for the
past eight years over procurement of arms and equipment in the Armed Forces and Defence sector.
He gave the order follow­ing the recommendation of the committee established to audit the procurement of arms and equipment in the Armed Forces and Defence sector from 2007 to 2015.
The affected officers and companies were alleged to have fraudulently abused their offices, issued letters of award without reflecting con­tract sum, some of the equip­ment acquired not meant for the purpose they were ac­quired among other grievous offences.
The affected officers are: Air Chief Marshal AS Ba­deh (Rtd), Air Marshal M.D Umar (Rtd), Air Marshal A.N Amosu (Rtd), Maj- Gen. E.R Chioba (Rtd), AVM IA Balo­gun (Rtd), AVM A.G Tsakr (Rtd) and AVM A. G Idowu (Rtd).
Others are AVM AM Mamu, AVM O. T .Ogun­toyinbo, AVM T. Omenyi, AVM J. B Adigun, AVM R. A Ojuawo, AVM J.A Kay­ode-Beckley, Air Cdre S. A Yushau (Rtd) and Air Cdre A. O Ogunjobi.
Also included are Air Cdre G. M. D Gwani, Air Cdre S. O Makinde, Air Cdre A. Y Lassa, Col N. Ashinze and Lt Col. M. S Dasuki (Rtd)
According to a statement by the Senior Special As­sistant on Media and Public­ity, Garba Shehu, the Presi­dent also directed the EFCC to investigate the roles of the officers and the following companies and their directors, having been indicted in the second interim report of fun­damental breaches associated with the procurements by the Office of the National Secu­rity Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
The companies and per­sons are Messrs Societe D’ Equipments Interna­tionaux, Himma Abouba­kar, Aeronautical Engineer­ing and Technical Services Limited, Messrs Syrius Tech­nologies, Dr. Theresa A. Ittu, Sky Experts Nig Ltd, Omenyi Ifeanyi Tony, Huzee Nig Ltd, GAT Techno Dynamics Ltd and Gbujie Peter Obie.
Others are Onuri Samuel Ugochukwu, Spacewebs Interservices Ltd, Ogun­toyinbo Tayo, Oguntoy­inbo Funmi, Delfina Oil and Gas Ltd, Chief Jacobs Bola, Mono Marine Corpo­ration Nig Ltd, Geonel Inte­grated Services Ltd, and Sa­chi Felicia, Mudaki Polycarp and Wolfgang Reinl.
