On December 2, 1989, Buhari married his second and current
wife Aisha Buhari. They have five children together, a male and four females.
They are Aisha, Halima, Yusuf, Zarah and Amina. Hajiya Aisha Buhari was born Hajiya Aisha Halilu into the family of Nigerians first defense minister, Muhammad Ribadu in Adamawa state. Aisha was raised by Fulani traditions and
customs.
Aisha is educated and
speaks fluent English and Arabic. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in
public administration from Ahmadu Bello university, Zaria.
She later received diplomas and training in cosmetology and
beauty from institutions in Paris and London.
Aisha is currently a graduate student of international
affairs and strategic planning. President Buhari has a softer side, represented
by his gorgeous wife Aisha. Like her husband, she is self-confident.
Mrs Buhari was encouraged and supported by her husband to
spend the early years of her married life as a home maker, a devout moslem and
passionate wife.
Born on the 17th of February, 1971, 44 years ago, Mrs Aisha Buhari’s natural passion for beauty and fashion is overwhelming. She
teaches, works and mentors young ones on beauty and fashion.
She is the founder
and managing director of Hanzy spa and principal of Hanzy beauty institute, Kaduna and Abuja. Her philosophy is similar to her husband’s. perhaps that is
why they are a couple. She believes that if the environment is safe; if there
is no corruption in governance and public life, there would be enough resources
in any nation to meet the important needs of the common people, including those
of women and the youth.
Mrs Buhari is a member of the united kingdom vocational
training charitable trust(VTCT) and the international health and beauty council
(HBC). Few would believe that the taciturn, austere and spartan president Buhari, has a soft, smiling and sweet woman at home.
In the large house in the residential area of Abuja, where
her husband Muhammadu Buhari of APC was watching the election results come in, Aisha’s unusual calm demeanor contrasted with the tumultuous scene outside.
Dressed in a cream colored tunic and orange and pink embroidered headscarf, Aisha Buhari seemed calm and also as the results of the election declared her
husband winner, despite the magnitude of what had just happened and what was to
come.”the long journey has come to an end,” she told AFP,, referring to the
election campaign.
Nigeria has nothing to fear from her husband. “I know him
personally. Not as a leader of Nigeria. I know him as my husband and I think Nigerians should feel comfortable with him. He will get there,” she said. “ I
prefer to be called the wife of the president of Nigeria than first lady,” she
added.
“ the wife of the president has some traditional roles, like
receiving guests, visiting orphanages, helping the less privileged people,
also leading the fight for the right of woman and malnourished children, infant
mortality rate, kidnapping and female child trafficking, “she told the
vanguard.
Aisha Buhari has been described by Nigerian journalist and
acquaintances as calm, patient, beautiful, soft-spoken and unassuming.
