9 WAYS NIGERIAN STUDENTS COMMIT EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE



Examination malpractice seems to be a common trend in universities today. Students make it seem like a normal thing to engage in examination malpractice.

Here I will list for you nine ways or methods students commit examination malpractice.

1.bullets/missiles:these are tiny pieces of papers containing answers to examination questions. The papers are used in wrapping pebbles to give them weight when thrown from one student to another. Such papers can be chewed and swallowed by students when caught by the invigilator.

2.dubbing:this is direct copying from textbooks,notebooks or other relevant materials often hidden under furniture,clothes,bags, pockets.this majorly occur in west Africa senior secondary certificate examination( wassce) and neco exams.

3.microchips:these are small sized papers used in condensing summaries from textbooks and notebooks using pencils.they are tucked in shoes, calculators, bags,purses.

4.phones: this involves the use of mobile phones, students send examination answers through text messages to their friends or those who paid them money to do so.

5.markers/collation:in higher institutions, this takes the form of students going after examiners after an examination with gifts, either in cash or in kind for the purpose of altering scores.some lecturers  even indicate that students who are not sure of their success in their examinations should meet them after the examination in order to upgrade their scores,usually a price tag is involved.

6.agents:these people are those with the power to administer justice in the hall. But they tend to abuse such powers.they include examination attendants,security agents  who are settled before the exam begins to help those who hired them to assist them one way or another inside the hall.

7.chief impersonators:these guys are smart, you hardly catch them.they impersonate in different exam halls in different universities. they are quite good in doing their business.but when it comes to money,the price tag depends on the type of exam situation.

8.expo:it was in 1977 when examination question papers leaked for the first time in Nigerian history. This is a situation where question papers are leaked to students before the day of the examination.this kind of situation shatters the hope and brings down the morale of the hardworking ones.

9.ECOMOG:these are usually thugs who arm themselves with dangerous weapons.they are dangerous to anyone who stand in their way of achieving their purpose.they collect question papers, solve them outside the examination hall and return to candidates in the hall.they are mostly cultists.
